I’ve been quietly putting this together for the past few months, and am happy to finally announce it!
We have an INCREDIBLE lineup, and I am very, very, very psyched.
From August 3 - 9, LUNARCADE and Serial Space bring you a week of experimental independent games.
SPATIAL NARRATIVE is a collection of works that experiment with exploration. They let us probe game worlds with minimalist or avant garde landscapes, engage in experimental storytelling in a virtual space, and negotiate physical and social play in the ‘real world’.
Join us to experience latest of what forward-thinking artists and game designers around the world are creating in their attempts to redefine what it means to be a video game.
Bientôt l’été – Tale of Tales
Dear Esther – Dan Pinchbeck
J.S. Joust – Die Gute Fabrik
Lifeless Planet – Stage 2 Studios
Memory of a Broken Dimension – XRA
Thirty Flights of Loving – Brendon Chung
TRIP – Axel Shokk
Zobeide – Robert Yang
During the year, LUNARCADE organizes two different kinds of events: CIRCUS, an event in which a selection of indie games sharing specific aesthetics, interactivity, or meaning is shown to the public, and FACTORY, workshops and game jams on specific themes. The events are free and open to everyone: they serve as a meeting point for the community of designers and authors, introduce people into independent game development and culture, and help those that want to approach game development as an artistic endeavor.
LUNARCADE was created in same spirit of other international independent game events such as thewildrumpus.co.uk, babycastles.com, kokoromi.org, winnitron.ca, handeyesociety.com, arsgames.net.
More information is available at www.lunarcade.it and http://serialspace.org/.
LUNARCADE 2012 is produced by Santa Ragione and The Pretentious Gamer, curated by Bryan Ma with Pietro Righi Riva and Nicolò Tedeschi.
Special thanks to AIE, Chris Law, Pia Van Gelder, Serial Space and many others.
